It’s been two weeks since It Girls premiered and viewers seem to be loving the show so far. We’re sure the long weekend also allowed some of you to binge-watch on replays of the first episode and stay tuned for the latest one last Monday.
As promised, we’ll be sharing our thoughts on it based on the first two episodes. We were on (sort of) on vacation too the past few days, but we definitely didn’t miss any of it! SO IF you haven’t seen any episode yet and you’re avoiding spoilers, then you better click away for a while.
We all know that It Girls is centered on the lives of Georgina WIlson, Solenn Heussaff, Isabelle Daza, and Liz Uy, giving us a closer look on their glam life. Raymond Gutierrez, the show’s director, previously mentioned that this aims to show viewers another side of them away from their social media personas. Plus, the show’s also broadcasted in other parts of Asia too so it’s like introducing the women to a bigger audience.
The first few minutes of the pilot episode made sure to introduce the girls and the busy world they live in before getting to the grit of things―Georgina posing for magazines, Liz looking for models at Stylized Studio, Solenn painting, and Isabelle acting in Tubig at Langis.
After all the introductions, we already get drama right of the bat. One of Solenn’s first scenes was her arguing with husband Nico Bolzico about not seeing him often. Meanwhile, Isabelle was stressing over her wedding with Adrien Semblat possibly not pushing through.
To be honest, adding this much drama to a first episode, and in quick successions too, seems like rushing it too much. Maybe that’s just their way of showing how their lives are not as perfect as everyone perceives it to be. At the same time, maybe they’re squeezing all of these scenes in the 30-minute time span and only six episodes they have for this season.
On the plus side though, it showed impact and it kept viewers glued to their screens―some laughing at the bluntness of the ladies during the confessionals as they called out Georgina’s tardiness (“When you tell her to meet at 9 o’clock, she thinks that’s the time for her to take a bath,” Isabelle says in the show.) and Solenn’s apparent b*tchiness. Others even sympathized with how stressed Isabelle and Liz was with work, and with Solenn not seeing Nico often. It’s basically like a teleserye that Filipinos love, but minus the script.
The second episode is no different. The title itself―”When Scandal Strikes”―says as much. But what I loved about this episode is you get to see what happened behind-the-scenes of happy moments like Georgina finding out the gender of their baby (we won’t spoil anything, sorry), as well as horrific ones like when Solenn accidentally had a nip-slip on Snapchat. Georgina’s reaction to it was priceless too.

But one juicy thing that you didn’t see on tabloids or social media is Liz telling Isabelle that she didn’t like her wedding dress, and that she looked fat in it. Yikes. Now that’s something you don’t see or hear about everyday. Luckily they made up in time for Isabelle’s wedding.
Overall, It Girls is like our version of Laguna Beach where it’s just a group of friends having fun with what they do and being occasionally catty toward each other, their partners, or, in Isabelle’s case, their assistants.

We also agree with the majority that this show should be an hour long next season so it can cover more ground and not rush the transitions too much. It’ll also give viewers a good pace to follow so they won’t get tired of the show easily. Just throwing it out there.
If given the chance, would we do a marathon of this like with Keeping Up With the Kardashians and other reality shows? Sure. After all, we only know them from social media and events, and it’s nice to see their lives unfold on television. It still needs to iron out some tweaks, but they’re just starting out so we’re giving them the benefit of a doubt.
