These days, I’m no longer bothering with foundation. Yes, it’s the lazy girl in me winning plus it’s me celebrating my skin, blemishes and all. I’ve noticed that if you take a makeup break, you let your skin breathe and avoid a few problems.
What’s left behind by my charged up skincare system (Here’s a hint as to what I’ve been using) and slight aversion to foundation are dark spots and undereye bags. Also, a hint of ingenuousness as I have been using concealer for other things as well. It’s a hack to know when you need a full look with minimal products.
Bobbi Brown Instant Full Cover Concealer
I was deceived by this formula as I thought it would be liquid in consistency since it came in a wand type packaging. It’s thick and very creamy so the smallest dot goes a long way under the eyes. It brightens and conceals so I recommend it the morning after a long night. Available this October at Rustan’s The Beauty Source, Glorietta 4.
Happy Skin Bye Bye Concealer Brightening Concealer
I was a bit skeptical about this color as it registered a little too light in the shade range. But I realized this is best applied on top of an orange corrector to counteract darkness and blue tones. On it’s own, I like to use it as subtle highlight on the bridge of my nose, the top of the cupid’s bow, and the forehead. Available at SM Aura Premier.
Maybelline Fit Me! Concealer
The liquid consistency of these concealers make them easy to blend especially when you get carried away applying it. I like the darker shades Deep Fonce or Cafe for spot correcting and slight contouring (just draw a thin line below your cheekbones and blend) while the shade Medium is all I wear on most days for the usual concealing needs. Kat Von D Lock-It Concealer Crème
Creamy and full-coverage, this concealer does what it should. But since it’s crease-proof, you can also use it as an eye primer. Its thick consistency will provide the ideal surface that eyeshadows can stick on to and will even allow the colors to pop. Available via SephoraPH.
Sleek Makeup Correct and Conceal
If you want a thin but complete companion to put in your purse, this one is for you. This palette comes with a concealer, corrector, and setting powder which you can use accordingly. But depending on your shade and needs, you can use them individually for touch-ups. Mix the corrector and concealer well and you can use the shade even as a nude lipstick. Available at SM Megamall.
Nars Soft Matte Complete Concealer
This concealer promises that it will stay all day without setting. Just what you need when you’re on the go and you don’t really have time for baking your under eyes. Pat it gently on spots that need coverage and let the warmth of your finger make the concealer easy to work with. You can even pat a bit under your eyebrow to make it more shaped and lifted or around your lips after lipstick to further define your puckers. Available at Bonifacio Central Square.
