Thought a domestic tragedy in the United States, the world is still reeling from the Las Vegas shooting. Liza Soberano shares in the heartache over what happened. It seems like that it’s left such an impression on her that she had to take to Instagram to express her thoughts.
The young actress did not only send her best to the families of the victims. Liza also shared her strong opinions on gun control and terrorism. She also pointed out how the label “terrorist attack” seems to be only limited when the perpetrator is a person of color.
As of writing, the post has received 437 comments and 53,633 likes. Most comments share Liza’s sentiments but as with all things online bashers and trolls have popped up. Liza replied to one of them with a very level-headed response.
The Las Vegas shooting that happened earlier this week is the deadliest mass shooting in modern US history, with 59 dead and over 500 injured. Despite this, Stephen Paddock, the 64-year-old man who opened fire from the 32nd floor of the Mandalay Bay Resort, was not declared a terrorist. Business Insider reports that “terrorist attack” is defined by US federal law as an “unlawful use of force and violence against persons or property to intimidate or coerce a government, the civilian population, or any segment thereof, in furtherance of political or social objectives.”
