Beyoncé’s Gown at the Wearable Art Gala Took 10 Days to Create

Expect nothing less when Beyoncé and her family steps out for an event—this time for the Wearable Art Gala hosted by her mother Tina Knowles and Richard Lawson with the theme Waco to Wakanda (yes, that’s a Black Panther reference.)

Beyoncé stole the show and arrived in a gold custom gown designed by Falguni and Shane Peacock. “We wanted to create an art statement, taking inspiration from the Nubian warrior queen [Amanishakheto]. We felt it was the perfect inspiration when designing for such a strong woman like Beyoncé,” said the designers. We couldn’t agree more!

The designers shared that the metallic cutouts on the body of her dress were inspired by the armor of the Nubian armies while the elaborate 3D train emphasizes royalty. Stylist Marni Senofonte said that it was love at first sight for Beyoncé.

It should be given the love and labor poured out for the dress, “This gown took us countless hours over a span of 10 days to create.” Plus she was also matchy-matchy with daughter Blue Ivy.
