But according to director J.J. Abrams, we will be seeing her again in Star Wars: Episode IX. A post on StarWars.com stated, “The role of Leia Organa will once again be played by Carrie Fisher, using previously unreleased footage shot for Star Wars: The Force Awakens.”
J.J. Abrams also added, “Finding a truly satisfying conclusion to the Skywalker saga without her eluded us. We were never going to recast, or use CG character.” Before moving forward with this, they also spoke to her daughter Billie Lourd first. “With the support and blessing from her daughter, Billie, we have found a way to honor Carrie’s legacy and role as Leia in Episode IX by using unseen footage we shot together in Episode VII.”
The next film is slated for December 2019 so till then, we’ll be rewatching the past movies to get ready. Will you be doing the same?
