People are throwing their Dolce & Gabbana pieces in the trash

Dolce & Gabbana has been through hell the past couple of days and for good reason. Aside from all the nasty comments Stefano Gabbana has said in the past, their “Eating with Chopsticks” videos got so much hate. They were called out for being racist and Stefano got into a heated DM war with a netizen who spoke up. The two designers have apologized in a short video but watching it, you will notice how scripted, stiff, and impersonal it feels.

After everything went down, their Shanghai fashion show was cancelled while e-commerce stores like Net-A-Porter have dropped the brand. People are so enraged with what happened that they are speaking up in many ways. There have protests as well as people on social media showing their disgust for the brand in the most creative ways. Let’s take a look at how people are reacting.

Not me

When all hell broke loose, Stefano took to IG to defend himself. He posted a screencap of the DM conversation with the words “Not Me” covering the text. In protest, people gathered outside D&G stores holding up “Not Me” signs. There’s no hiding now, Stefano.

So much shade

One Chinese woman decided to react to the chopsticks video with so much shade. She pointed out that, contrary to what the brand thinks, they actually eat pizza with their hands, and not chopsticks. Oh, she also mentioned that majority of their market is actually Chinese so if they insult them, their brand dies. And she might just be right.

Thank u, next

The “Thank u, next” memes aren’t over just yet. This guy made a video wherein Ariana Grande’s song was playing in the background while he was dodging the D&G logos flashed on the screen. In the caption he said, “Respect your customers, or you’ll never be respected.”

Check out this netizen who tweaked the brand’s logo for it to say “Dead & Gone” instead of Dolce & Gabbana.

In the trash

Some people who own D&G pieces are even getting rid of them. Some are setting them on fire, using them to clean toilets, or straight up just throwing them in the trash where they belong.

For the love of merch

Others are so quick to react to the issue that they even made merch. Spotted in China Town in Milan were these graphic shirts. Some said “Not Me” on the front while others had screencaps of Stefano’s direct messages insulting Chinese people. Yeah, they are definitely cancelled.
