We’ve seen various ways of pairing stockings with different ensembles. But what hasn’t changed are the various designs that we use with our footwear—whether they’re heels, boots, or even flats. At London Fashion Week, it seems like colored tights are taking center stage with collections from the likes of Ashley Williams and Preen by Thornton Bregazzi.
Ashley Williams initially made waves for pieces with sperm cell and cat prints, which is a subtle nod to sexuality and a “tongue-in-cheek homage to the male appendage.” Another element that caught our eye are the accessories, including bright-colored tights to go with the dresses.
Preen by Thornton Bregazzi also incorporated these in contrast to his grungey, Victorian-inspired collection. The tights were given more dimension with fishnets on top of them.
These statement accessories were also big during the fall 2018 season, making it the It-piece in the chilly weather. Also, the brighter the color, the more it’ll remind you of the ’80s neon era. If you want to add this to your wardrobe as well, here’s where to get some.
Old Navy Control-Top Tights
For something safe, choose navy blue tights. You can totally wear this with an all-black outfit with black heels, and no one’s going to notice that it’s a different color. Available at Bonifacio High Street.
Falke Matt Deluxe 30 Denier Tights
We see these burgundy, semi-sheer tights being worn with a mini skirt and stiletto boots. Net-a-Porter suggests that this is a good statement piece for “toned-down winter outfits.” So, if you happen to be traveling to a snowy location in the future, better pack these with you. H&M 2-Pack Fine-Knit Tights
If you want something softer and cozy, consider these ones from H&M. One pack comes with two colors, Camel (burnt orange) and Burgundy. You can also wear these with mini-skirts but best to pair them with sneakers for added comfort. Available at SM Makati.
Gucci Pink Lace Tights
Patterned tights will give your look that added oomph. And if Gucci’s eccentric lookbook is considered a guide, you shouldn’t be afraid to pair them with prints too. These pink lace tights have floral stitching on the legs and a nude elastic with Gucci’s label on it. Available on SSENSE.
