Christine Bersola-Babao and her husband Julius Babao are no strangers to the local art scene. The couple are known collectors of local and international art, and their home basically looks like a museum.
So imagine the surprise and shock that Christine felt when she was told to “never, never touch the artwork,” during Art Fair Philippines’ vernissage. She, of course, knew proper art etiquette.
This happened while Preen.ph was interviewing Christine in front of a Fernando Botero painting. While posing for a photo in front of the painting, a woman was heard saying, “Please do not touch the artwork. Never, never touch the artwork” even though she wasn’t touching it.
Christine politely responded by saying, “Yup, of course. We know that. Don’t worry.” She composed herself and went on with our interview.
In a now-deleted Instagram post, Christine aired out what she felt. “Just came form Art Fair PH 2019. Had an awful experience with this Mrs. Kim Camacho.” Towards the end of the post, she admitted that she felt insulted by Mrs. Camacho.
Since the post was taken down, Christine may have moved on from the said incident.
Art Fair Philippines will happen from Feb. 22 to 24 at The Link, Ayala Center, Makati. For more information, visit their website.
