It’s almost the weekend! Don’t forget to invest in some me-time and pamper yourself. One way to do that is by going on a trip to the nail salon. Yes, girl, don’t neglect your nails, they need love too. And since it’s the summer season already, it’s time to get playful with your nails. Bright polishes are the standard, but these new trends, as seen on the previous SS19 fashion shows, are worth a try too. You might want to show these photos as inspiration to your nail technician:
Holographic
Yup, the trend goes beyond makeup. At Kim Shui for instance, duo-chrome metallic blue nails caught our eye. Sparkly nails were also seen on the models who walked for Kate Spade. Clearly, we’re still not over the obsession over shiny things. But hey, we’re not complaining.
Rhinestones
If you’re feeling extra—and feel like you won’t be doing anything with your nails in the coming days—then by all means, bedazzle your nails. Use nail artist Mei Kawajiri’s creation for Adeam as inspo. The gold fine chains and micro colored gems will surely catch attention. Or maybe Heart Evangelista’s embellished midnight blue nails are more to your liking.
Highlighting the cuticles

Move over French tips, because cuticles are finally getting a spot in the limelight too. If you love the concept of negative space on nails, then you’ll love this. Tracing a line directly over your cuticles will give you a half moon shape. You can use a pop of color—or even glitter—to make it stand out, a nude hue for a clean look. It’s simple yet makes a statement.
Foil
Rodarte was at the top of its game at the SS19 shows, with dreamy looks complemented by the edgy, futuristic nail look. According to Harper’s Bazaar, lead artist Eichi Matsunaga used Morgan Taylor shades “Could Have Foiled Me,” “Give Me Gold,” and “No Way Rosé” to achieve the metallic look.
“Unpolished” look
This is perfect for those who just can’t master the art of perfectly applying nail polish. As seen from Tibi and Maryam Nassirzadeh’s shows, the “unkempt” look is officially in. Tibi will remind you of your teenager self with bright polishes smudged on short, chipped nails. Meanwhile, Maryam Nassirzadeh featured nails with neon splashes you could achieve in a jiffy.
Clear nails
The PVC and see-through trend looks like it’s invading the world of nail art too. It’s a minimal and modern look which uses acrylic or gel. You can wear it as is, or make it graphic like how Miss Pop did it for Moschino. By adding rhinestones, you can elevate it too and make it over the top. Let your creativity flow with this trend that’s proving to be super versatile.
