After 12 years, we’re finally getting a new ‘Twilight’ book in Edward’s POV

Back in high school, I remember everyone talking about the “Twilight” saga and why Bella Swan should pick either Edward Cullen or Jacob Black. The fandom reached its peak when the movie came out in 2008 starring Kristen Stewart and Robert Pattinson.

Another “Twilight” memory I had was reading an excerpt of “Midnight Sun” online. The book was supposed to be a companion novel in Edward’s POV so readers would have an idea of his thoughts when he met Bella. (Seriously, we need an explanation as to why he stalked her at night.)

The book was supposed to come out in 2008, immediately after “Breaking Dawn” was published, but author Stephenie Meyer canceled it after the manuscript was leaked online. Last night, Meyer announced on her website that “Midnight Sun” is finally coming out on Aug. 4, 2020.

“Working on a book for more than thirteen years is a strange experience. I’m not the same person I was then. My children have all grown up. My back got weird. The world is a different place. I can only imagine all the things that have changed for you. But completing Midnight Sun has brought back to me those early days of Twilight when I first met many of you. We had a lot of fun, didn’t we?” wrote Meyer in a letter to fans.

Based on the synopsis, “Midnight Sun” will give us a glimpse of Edward’s life as a vampire and his struggles with falling in love with a mortal. Fans have also started speculating and made memes on what they expect to see when they read the book.

What I most hope from MIDNIGHT SUN is that we understand why the Cullens, who presumably could be doing anything they want, keep going to high school over and over again.

Other netizens are trolling Pattinson, who allegedly hated the movies.

There are no pre-order details yet, so be sure to keep checking Meyer’s website for updates in the coming months. Who’s excited? Because we are.
