Are Lara Jean and Peter really breaking up in ‘To All The Boys: Always and Forever?’

preen to all the boys always and forever

Has it really been three years since we first fell in love with Lara Jean Covey and Peter Kavinsky? This year, we’ll be bidding them goodbye with the emotionally-charged finale to the “To All The Boys” trilogy.

Today, Netflix dropped the trailer for “To All The Boys: Always and Forever” which is set to be released on Feb. 12. It follows Lara Jean (Lana Condor) in her final year in high school, making college plans with Peter (Noah Centineo) and prepping for prom. Of course, life has a way of upturning her plans, and trouble in paradise this time might mean that the couple is truly splitting up.

….The wait is over.

One story thread that the trailer teases is Lara Jean and Peter aiming to go to Stanford University together so they can avoid the dreaded LDR. However, she doesn’t get in. They make plans for Lara Jean to attend a university that’s not too far from Stanford but she starts wanting to go to another campus (spoiler alert: New York University) instead. When Peter finds out, he tells her, “We both know what 3,000 miles would do to us.”

Other highlights from the trailer are Peter’s dramatic promposal, the gang dancing on prom night, and the Coveys’ trip to Korea. Yup, you read that right. We’ll be seeing Lara Jean and her sisters frolicking in Seoul. How wild would it be if we get a K-drama star cameo in the movie?

It’s hard to believe what all started with a letter, a hot tub, and a diner could turn into this…

Condor tells USA Today in an interview that while the first two “To All the Boys” films were about Lara Jean’s relationships with the guys she likes, in this one,  “it’s really cool to kind of see her start to think about her future as an independent woman, regardless of whether or not…her relationships are going to follow with her.”

Centineo says that similarly, we’ll get to know more about Peter’s motivations outside of their relationship. “You get to really see why he’s insecure and why he is the way he is in a way that you’ve never seen before,” Centineo says. “[In] all the other films, you’ve only ever seen Peter with Lara Jean, and then this, you get to see him by himself [and with his dad.] It’s beautiful.”

Do you think that Lara Jean and Peter will stay together, or are you for a more bittersweet ending?
