Liza Soberano Spills Her Favorite Selena Gomez Makeup Look

By Jacqueline Ariason August 3, 2016

Last weekend, a photo of Liza Soberano and Selena Gomez blew up on social media―over 21,000 retweets and 94,000 likes to be exact. Not only because Liza met the famous pop star, but how they looked almost like sisters. Plus, these two were also listed as two of the most beautiful women of this year.

I’m in love with @selenagomez 😍 She’s such a beautiful person inside and out. It makes me so happy when I idolize the right person ❤️

We caught up with Liza, who’s also the newest face of Maybelline and joining Georgina Wilson, to ask her about the encounter and how similar they are when it comes to their go-to makeup looks.

What is the signature Liza Soberano makeup look?
I usually go for the no-makeup makeup look because it still makes me look very young. I’m only 18, and I don’t want to hurry and look too mature. There are also times when I have to go for the edgy look, like for this event. But mostly, I just go for basics like a little contour, foundation, lipstick, and eyebrows―I love thick eyebrows.

What are your favorite lipstick shades?
Right now, it’s brown lips because it’s [on-trend]. But every now and then, I like to go with a red lip.

Do you prefer nude or smokey eye makeup?
I love smokey eye makeup, but it tends to make my eyes look too chinita. So usually I go for lighter colors so my eyes will look bigger when I wear lashes.

What was it like meeting Selena Gomez?
She was really nice! I was a little surprised because when I usually encounter celebrities―not that they’re all snobs, but they’re not as warm as her. I mean, you can imagine how tired she is. She travels practically everyday because of her tour, [yet] she’s still really welcoming. She was even the one who asked, “Can I get a hug?” So I hugged her and told her that I loved her, and she said, “Aww, you’re beautiful, babe.” I was really touched by that. And she wasn’t really rushing the whole meet and greet. Like, I got a picture with her on my phone and with the professional photographer, so that was really great.

What’s one of the first things you noticed when you saw her?
She’s looks so thin in person pala! When you see her photos, her face looks round. But she’s very beautiful in person―more beautiful than in pictures.

If given the chance, would you rock her makeup look?
Yes! I love her. She’s like my peg. Before, when I go to out-of-town shows, I like to dress up like her and do my makeup like her. I like how she’s daring and goes for different kinds of looks, especially with her hair and makeup. She likes to experiment and I like how she’s brave about it.

Which of her specific makeup looks would you cop?

She’s always doing the black smokey eye, I noticed. Also, nude lips. And lately, she’s been trying different kinds of curls which I’d like to experiment also.
