Getting a manicure isn’t just a relaxing activity for me—it’s a need. I bite my nails a lot and having nail polish helps a lot in curbing my bad habit. But since I don’t always have time to visit a nail salon, I apply and remove nail polish on my own. Sometimes I even do it while taking a break at work.
Recently, I’ve seen a lot of nail artists’ Instagram videos where they use tools and products I haven’t seen before. No, I don’t mean the usual nail file or buffer. These items are what you need if you’re into doing your own manicures and nail art at home.
Of course, I had to look up other nail tools that a lot of you might’ve not heard about. So keep reading until the end, you might find something you’ll need.
Lulaa Peel Off Liquid Tape Latex Tape
Don’t you hate it when you have to clean the excess nail polish that stained your cuticles? If you’re looking for an easier way to remove the polish, you can apply peel-off latex around your nails before nail polish. This is meant to be a protective barrier for your cuticles that you can peel away after painting, leaving you with a clean manicure every time. Available on Lazada.
Essence Glitter On Glitter Off Peel Off Nail Polish
Nail polish that you can remove without acetone exists, and it comes in glitter form. This product from Essence is a peel-off polish that takes the struggle out of switching colors. Available at SM Mall of Asia.
Wearable Nail Soakers
Fact: Gel and acrylic nail polishes are difficult to remove. This is why nail technicians soak your fingertips in a bowl of polish remover. But if you have chores to do at home, you can opt for these wearable nail soakers. Each pod fits your fingers and it has a case where you can put the polish remover or an acetone-soaked pad. Keep them on for a few minutes until the gel or acrylic melts away. Available on Shopee.
Mumuso Nail Polish Remover Pads
Speaking of acetone pads: I’ve been using these oil-based remover pads from Mumuso for a while now. The pads feel dry to the touch, but when you rub it over nail polish, it deposits an oily substance that dissolves the polish. It’s also handy to have around whenever you decide to change your nail color in the middle of the week. Available at Ayala Malls Circuit.
Maniology Glass Stamper Collection
You may have seen nail artists use dotting tools and small stampers to add decorate someone’s manicure. While scrolling through Instagram’s Discover page, I saw a clear-handle stamper with a clear jelly-like tip. These usually come with a design sheet where you swipe the nail polish over your chosen pattern, then use the stamper to get the exact shape for your nail art. Available online.
Tweexy Nail Polish Holder
This is an adorable tool I never knew I needed until I saw it. Tweexy’s nail polish holder looks like a ring pop with two slots and a small compartment for the nail polish. So you can wear this and keep the bottle steady while painting your nails. Genius! Available on Beauty MNL.
