Brighter days ahead💋

A post shared by Angel Locsin (@therealangellocsin) on Dec 8, 2019 at 2:39am PST

Angel Locsin is one actress many people admire because of her philanthropy (she’s one of Forbes Asia’s “Heroes of Philanthropy“) and how she’s never afraid to speak out about current issues. If you’re looking for another reason to love her, author and poet Juan Miguel Severo shared an anecdote wherein Locsin asked him about LGBTQ+ terms.

Severo replied to a tweet asking about people’s “most awkward or interesting celebrity interaction.” He said, “The day I met her, [Angel Locsin] pulled me aside and asked me about pansexuality, what ‘lipstick lesbian‘ means, and other things re: SOGIE. She said, ‘Ang dami ko kasing kaibigang LGBT+. I wanna do good by them. Gusto kong i-address sila nang tama.'”

In the past, Locsin has spoken up in support of same-sex marriage and asked her followers to not be discriminatory of LGBTQ+ people.

Severo’s story is also refreshing to see after seeing the news that the Supreme Court dismissed a petition for same-sex marriage in the Philippines and some celebrities applauding the decision. This is proof that influential people like Locsin are LGBTQ+ allies who are showing their support to the community in their own way.
