This is the very definition of a full circle moment.😭 When I was a young girl, the first song I ever got to sing on my own in front of an audience was “Reflection” from Disney’s Mulan. And now, almost 18 years later, I get to sing it in front of the world. I can't even begin to describe how honored I feel to have been chosen to sing my own rendition of “Reflection”, not just because it’s one of the most beloved Disney songs, but because of how meaningful it has been in my life as an artist. The song talks about doubting yourself; about the weak knees that come when you don't feel capable of doing something great– something I find very relatable for a lot of us. Throughout this once-in-a-lifetime experience of lending my voice to “Reflection”, I have faced self-doubt and [so much] fear, thinking I wouldn’t be able to measure up. The thought of having to fill such big shoes was very scary to me until I realized that I was chosen so I could pave my own path. Loyal. Brave. True. These are 3 virtues that continue to guide me as I go through this journey. I strive to stay loyal to the fans who love this song and to my own fans who have loved me in every season. I strive to be brave, making sure that my fears know it can give me weak knees but will never have power over me. And lastly, I strive to remain true to who I am, my style, my voice and most importantly, my story. I hope my journey encourages you today– that no dream is ever really forgotten, that God is faithful and that you are stronger and braver than you think ✨ I can’t wait for all of you to hear the song and to watch the music video, both of which will be coming out very, very soon. 💛 Catch Disney’s Mulan, in cinemas March 25. #MulanPH ♥️
Moira Dela Torre has been chosen to sing the localized version of “Reflection” for the upcoming live-action “Mulan.”
Disney PH made the announcement on their Twitter account, saying that the song and music video will be out very soon. “Moira Dela Torre, a warrior in her own right and a true voice of her generation, has been chosen to sing her unique take on the beloved song ‘Reflection’ from Disney’s ‘Mulan,'” the tweet read.

The singer shared how grateful and happy she was to have this “full circle moment.” “When I was a young girl, the first song I ever got to sing on my own in front of an audience was ‘Reflection’ from Disney’s ‘Mulan.’ And now, almost 18 years later, I get to sing it in front of the world,” wrote Dela Torre on Instagram. “I can’t even begin to describe how honored I feel to have been chosen to sing my own rendition of ‘Reflection,’ not just because it’s one of the most beloved Disney songs, but because of how meaningful it has been in my life as an artist.”
Dela Torre is the second Filipino to sing an official version of “Reflection.” The first was Lea Salonga, who offered her singing voice to the original animated film.
Disney has tapped other Filipino singers in the past to sing localized versions of songs like Iñigo Pascual (“Coco”), Janella Salvador (“Moana”) and the duo of Darren Espanto and Morissette Amon (“Aladdin”).
Meanwhile, the live-action “Mulan” encountered multiple controversies before the premiere. Last year, lead actress Liu Yifei came under fire for supporting the Hong Kong police during the pro-democratic protests in the city-state. Fans also expressed concerns on how the remake will be different from the original, citing the exclusion of Mushu and Li Shang.
The film also delayed its premieres in some countries due to the COVID-19 outbreak. However, it seems like the marketing campaign is still ongoing with the release of various versions of the official songs.
