Apart from being a vocal critic of our government’s COVID-19 response, our queen Angel Locsin has been lending a hand to many Filipinos affected by the pandemic through different ways such as her “Shop and Share” fundraising initiative. If you weren’t aware, the actress has also been educating herself about sexual orientation, gender identity and expression (SOGIE) and is a supporter of same-sex marriage.
On Aug. 2, she once again showed her support for the community by holding an online live concert for the benefit of LBTQ+ entertainers whose livelihoods were affected by the lockdown. Hosted by comedian Negi, the concert titled “Kinang!” featured performances from local drag queens such as Racing Chat who lip-synched to Roselle Nava’s “Bakit Nga Ba Mahal Kita” and the trio of JCourse, Aries Knight and Mrs. Tan who did an Aegis medley.
If you would like to pitch in, you can deposit to ABS-CBN Lingkod Kapamilya Foundation Inc.’s BDO savings account with the account number 005630050932 at the Mother Ignacia branch. They will be accepting donations until noon on Aug. 7. For monitoring purposes, you may send screenshots of your deposit transactions to “Iba Yan’s” Facebook page.
After the concert, Locsin thanked donors, which included the likes of Boy Abunda, for the collected total of P100,000. “Maraming salamat po sa lahat ng nanuod at nag donate sa “Kinang!” an online celebration of Philippine drag,” she wrote in a tweet. She encourages others who are still planning to contribute to watch the show uploaded on Facebook.
