Ben&Ben truly has come a long way since their college band beginnings. In the last few months, their music has been gaining international attention from K-pop idols such as NCT Dream, Wendy of Red Velvet and even Momo of Twice. Little did we know that that was just the start. The nine-member band just announced their MTV European Music Awards (EMAs) nomination for the Best Southeast Asian Act—a special category that recognizes the region’s finest.
The news came as a shock to the collective, but they were nonetheless grateful for it. “Being nominated feels like such a huge honor, so we have nothing but gratitude to all the people who helped us get here,” lead vocalist Miguel says in a statement. “We all grew up seeing all our favorite artists get nominated for MTV awards, so to actually be in this same position feels nothing short of surreal.”
If you’re wondering on how to vote for them, you can head onto the MTV EMAs website’s voting page and do so. They’re up against other Southeast Asian acts such as Agnez Mo (Indonesia), K-Clique (Malaysia) and three others.
It’s amazing how a simple sibling dream became this big. Now if only I could convince my siblings to start a band with me.
