Need a last-minute gift? Get a budget smartphone

If you still haven’t picked out a gift for your loved ones, don’t despair—it’s not too late to get them something great for Christmas. Consider getting them a budget-friendly smartphone. Whether it’s to replace their main phone or as a reliable spare that they can use solely for gaming, a new phone can help them stay connected, entertained and, frankly, sane in this new normal.

You don’t need to think this over too hard, either. If you want a feature-packed device that won’t break the bank, Huawei’s already named its  “best budget smartphone for Christmas,” the Huawei Y7a. Interested? Here are some of its features:

It’s got a long-lasting battery life

The Huawei Y7a has a 5000mAh battery that supports video playback of around 23 hours. When you combine that with its power-saving AI and fast charging feature (it’s called the 22.5 SuperCharge), you get a phone that won’t just suddenly die out on you while you’re streaming a movie or playing a competitive game.

It has surprisingly good cameras

We’ve written about its cameras before, so here’s a quick recap: The Huawei Y7a boasts a 48mp rear camera with a ½ inch sensor as well as an 8mp front camera. The former allows for high definition photos for both day and night photography—and it has some extra cameras to give it a nice push, with a 120° 8mp ultra-wide-angle and 2mp macro cameras to get shots with different perspectives, and a 2 mp depth camera for some realistic and immersive bokeh effects. Meanwhile, the latter has a circular flash that’s great for capturing low-light selfies.

The display is pretty big

If you’re looking for a phone with a big display, the Huawei Y7a has a 6.67-inch Full HD display with a resolution of 2400 x 1080. It’s great for those who are always watching a movie on Netflix, or keep pinching their screen to make it bigger.

It uses an intuitive system

One of the worst things about switching to a new phone is having to get used to a new system. Thankfully, the Huawei 7a has a pretty intuitive one since it uses EMUI 10.1. The Android-based interface is no-nonsense, with a minimalist setup, dark mode, and multi-screen features, among other things. The phone also comes pre-installed with AppGallery and lets you download and install Petal Search widget, which acts as a gateway to more than a million apps and games that can be easily installed and used.

The Huawei Y7a is priced at PHP 8999 and available in three colors: crush green, midnight black and blush gold. Get it now as a Christmas present via the Huawei online store.
