This Women Empowerment Party Will Remind You of ‘Grease’ and ‘Riverdale’

When I think of retro parties, I think of diners filled with milkshakes, punch, and jukebox music. Imagine the cast of Grease dancing under colorful strobe lights and wearing bright preppy outfits. (Or for a more millennial example: Riverdale.)

This is what The Women of Aleitheia, an independent sorority of Ateneo Law School, wants to achieve with their back-to-school party Project A: The Prologue. Happening on Sept. 2 at The Power Mac Spotlight Center in Circuit Makati, there will be drinks and music for just P500 per ticket (door price: P550). Plus, in line with the org’s aim to promote women empowerment, the proceeds will go to a beneficiary that houses abused girls.

If you’re not sold on going just yet, here’s what you can expect and more information on the people behind the event.

#1 Free drinks

We’re reeling you in right off the bat. One ticket entitles you to one free Heineken beer and three El Hombre cocktails. You can get more at their in-house bar.

#2 Gift certificates

Aside from drinks, you’ll also get vouchers from Wacoal and Vandarah Spa. Perfect for some “me” time the next day!

#3 Who’s playing?

DJs Joe Saints, Arthur Tan, and Carlo Atendido will keep you dancing all-night with their infectious music. Be sure to wear comfy shoes for this.

#4 Late-night munchies

We know that eating food can make drinking more enjoyable. So grab a burger from Army Navy or nachos from Taters to go with your drinks.

#5 A good cause

As mentioned above, the proceeds will go to the Holy Family Home Foundation, which helps young girls who are orphaned and abused. It’ll also fund The Woman of Aleitheia’s lecture series W.E. Matter which tackles women empowerment topics, as well as ALS’ annual bar operations.

#6 Getting into theme

Feel free to dress like your favorite retro character if you really want to immerse yourself in the party. (Fashion pegs: Veronica Lodge, Betty Cooper, and Sandy Olsson)
