In places with colder climates, seeing a faux fur jacket is normal. If you wear that material here, you might just get looks because of how hot it is in Manila. But the past few months before the holidays proved that faux fur was just as trendy.
We got to wondering how faux fur suddenly became a staple. It can be how fur coats became a Fall/Winter 2017 must-have. Just look at the pieces from Jonathan Simkhai, Miu Miu, Prada, and Fendi.
But here in Manila, the use of faux fur was more on accessorizing an outfit rather than keeping someone warm the whole day. But you have to admit, the jackets and coats did come in handy when the temperature went down from time to time.
Rhian Ramos recently wore a white fur coat to pair with her pink lace dress. While Sofia Andres paired a light brown jacket with a crop top and velvet-like pants.
Jessica Yang also wore a black coat during a party. She kept her outfit monochromatic, which reminded us of Helena Bonham Carter’s look in “Fight Club.”
Some celebrities also utilized the material via accessories. During Bench “Under the Stars,” Lovi Poe walked down the runway with a yellow fur boa. Aside from lingerie, this can also be a great accessory for a dress or shirt.
Even Karylle Yuzon wore a white faux fur hat when we shot a Christmas carol video with her.
Does this mean there’s now space for faux fur in everyday Philippine fashion? That may be the case if we have often have colder climates. But this also shows we can wear the material in other ways even when it isn’t Christmas.
