Sure, dating is nice, but have you tried hanging out with your bestie and literally spending the entire time just goofing around or gossiping?
Romantic relationships may come and go, but female friendships are a true blessing. We all deserve a constant to lean on; someone who saw us in our 2007-Britney stage (and vice versa) yet chose to stay. Even celebrities—especially celebrities whose lives can get pretty crazy.
With their career, friendships can get a little tricky. But as they say, the world of show business is actually really small (I can’t confirm, sadly). So while it’s true that birds of the same feather flock together, unexpected bonds are also bound to happen. It doesn’t mean that they’re less genuine, though. Here are some unexpected celebrity female friendships we are a 100 percent behind.
Serena Williams and Meghan Markle
This pair’s closeness came as a surprise for most. Meghan revealed that they’ve actually been close for eight years. The two met at a Super Bowl party in 2010. The duchess described their first meeting through her former blog: “Taking pictures, laughing through the flag football game we were both playing and chatting, not about tennis or acting but about good old-fashioned girly stuff.”
The two hit it off immediately. And they’ve been nothing but supportive ever since. Meghan often comes out to Wimbledon to support her friend. Last week, Serena posted this in celebration of Meghan’s involvement on the charity cookbook written by women affected by the Grenfell Tower tragedy. She wrote: “I could not be more excited about it and proud of you.”

Selena Gomez and Jennifer Aniston
When you think about Selena’s best friend, I’m sure the first name that comes to mind is Taylor Swift. Bet you didn’t know she’s also super close with actress Jennifer Aniston. The two stars met in 2014 through their mutual management company. Jennifer invited the singer over to her house, and the two bonded over pizza. The rest, as they say, is history. Selena revealed that Jennifer is “very cool and very sweet” and that she gives her “maternal advice.” Aww. Maternal types of friendships are always nice.

Adele, Jennifer Lawrence, and Emma Stone
Here’s a squad I’d really love to be a part of: Adele, Emma Stone, and Jennifer Lawrence. Talk about squad goals. Emma was a mutual friend of JLaw and Adele but she wasn’t the one who brought the two together. The singer actually met JLaw at the Oscars in 2013, when JLaw was fangirling over the iconic singer (understandable). Now the three go on regular dinner dates. In 2016, JLaw wrote an essay about Adele for Time’s “100 Most Influential People in the World,” calling her “a gift, an international treasure, but she’s also sweet, funny, intelligent, and beautiful. B*tch.”

Kim Chiu, Bela Padilla, and Angelica Panganiban
This trio might seem totally random, but they gel extremely well together. They get on by telling jokes to each other and doing simple activities like jogging in UP Diliman. They’re also present in each other’s social media accounts, where we see them working out together, drinking and eating together, and going on spontaneous trips together.

JLaw and the Kardashians
JLaw has always been an outspoken fan of the Kardashian clan. This year, she finally got the chance to wine and dine at the Kardashian house. She said: “[The Kardashians] are smart, grounded, and normal and funny. They’re very nice people, very close… which I think is a positive thing to put out into the world.” She added: “They’ve been absolutely lovely to me.”
But the biggest surprise of all is her bond with the matron of the house. Yup. When asked to rank her favorite Kardashian, Kris Jenner’s name came out on top. They’ve become so close, aside from getting drunk together and JLaw stripping naked in Kris’ closet (Yup, that happened), she even gifted Kris with a Porsche last Christmas… sort of.
