The types of women you meet during the holidays

It’s the most wonderful time of the year because all the Christmas movies are coming out—both in theaters and your go-to streaming sites. Are you ready with your cozy sweaters, blankets, and hot cocoa? We hope you are because the selection this year doesn’t just have the usual sing-alongs and snowy romance tropes.

What we’ve noticed are the presence of interesting female leads in these movies, which remind us of the various ladies one could encounter during the holidays. If that piqued your interest, here’s the list—you might just remember someone you know while watching.

The busy baker: The Princess Switch

Vanessa Hudgens plays a Chicago-based baker and a princess in this Parent Trap-like film. As Stacy, she creates several cakes and pastries, which reminds us of our relatives who likes making batches of desserts for family gatherings. Also our friends who makes sure that everyone in the circle get a bag of cookies.

The gal who keeps 10 Advent calendars: The Holiday Calendar

Okay, The Holiday Calendar doesn’t involve 10 Advent calendars. But as we’ve seen last year, several brands come out with calendars that contain either food or travel-sized makeup. So we don’t blame all the ladies who collect them. The movie, however, does feature an Advent calendar that tells the future. It’s pretty nifty for the lead character who’s an aspiring photographer looking for her purpose. As a plus, she’ll also find love along the way.

The people person: A Snow White Christmas

This film is a modern adaptation of Snow White and the Seven Dwarves. Blanca Snow, whose set to receive her late father’s inheritance and mansion, was hypnotized and sent away by her evil stepmother. In the scene, she was asked about what makes her happy. Blanca says that people do, and later on, she wakes up in a motel run and gets along with the seven people running the place. She reminds us of that one friend who can strike up a conversation with anyone, even if they just bumped into each other at an event. Introverted people could never.

The one who’s always on her laptop: A Christmas Prince: The Royal Wedding

Amber Moore (Rose McIver) is a writer who’s engaged to Prince Richard. Jumping off from the first movie, she writes about her fairytale love story and her engagement on her blog. As content creators ourselves, we know what it’s like to be on our laptops 24/7, sometimes even during the holidays. So yeah, we’re definitely categorizing ourselves under this one.

The doting mother: Rainbow’s Sunset

This isn’t exactly Christmassy—like filled with ornaments and lights—but it is a family movie. Rainbow’s Sunset is set to premiere at this year’s Metro Manila Film Festival, and it’s about a grandfather (Eddie Garcia) coming out as gay and takes care of the love of his life. Meanwhile, his wife (Gloria Romero) lets him go to his best friend while keeping their adult children in check. Based on the trailer, it’s going to be an emotional rollercoaster. It’s also bound to create a wider conversation on the acceptance of the LGBTQ community.
