For the second year in a row, StyleFestPH, an event collab between Globe’s 0917 Lifestyle and Saga Events, is calling for aspiring designers to submit their works and get the chance to be part of its fashion show in November. Interested? Here’s what we know.
The call for entries started last June 24, but designers can still send them to StyleFestPH’s website until July 19. On July 24, 16 semi-finalists will be selected—one half will do a collection for 0917 Lifestyle, the other for Zalora. They will also join the Designer Mentorship Program (DMP) where they will learn from the best in the fashion biz—not just about how to make clothing, but also how to market them.
“We want to teach participants about creative direction and business know-how in order to succeed, using digital platform opportunities and the help of retail industry experts who can assist and mentor aspiring designers with their design skills and how to go to market through the DMP,” Leah De Guzman, head of 0917 Lifestyle, said in a statement.
This year, the DMP stylecouncil will include fashion icon Inno Sotto, Zalora CEO Paulo Campos, Globe 0917 Lifestyle head Leah De Guzman, and designer Carl Jan Cruz. Big names right there.
The finalists will present their works on Nov. 5. Winners from 0917 Lifestyle and Zalora will get the chance to showcase their capsule collection on the main StyleFestPH runway in the same month. They also stand the chance to win P50,000, plus mentorship from the stylecouncil and the opportunity to collaborate with said brands.
Just like last year, other designers will showcase their latest collections and other activities lined up for this year. While we wait for more updates, let’s look back at what #TeamPreenPH did during the first StyleFestPH.
