Movies Manila

I love to watch movies and I especially enjoy the whole experience of watching in cinema. There’s something different from seeing a film on the big screen and watching from the comforts of your home. I feel that with the right setting, the experience is made even better. However, aside from watching at cinemas in malls, there are other venues where you can enjoy them. There are pop-ups, independent venues, and even food parks that screen different features for you to enjoy. Not only are these for entertainment but they also want to share the different local and international creations you may not know about.

The Yard StreetFood Cinema

A post shared by The Yard Streetfood Cinema (@theyardstreetfoodcinema) on Jan 17, 2018 at 9:04pm PST

Enjoy the atmosphere of a food park while enjoying a movie at The Yard. Order from their concessionaires like Naughty Nachos and watch a movie projected on a big screen. You can catch all types of movies from action to drama and comedies. All you have to do is wait for their announcements on Facebook and plan your next movie night. Located at #18 Timog Avenue, Quezon City.

UP Film Institute

The UPFI doesn’t just offer film courses, they also hold events to bring different types of movies to the people. You can check their website to see what local movies will be showing this month. But, the Japanese Film Festival will be continuing in August with some movies showing at UPFI. Check the schedule above because there will be many film viewings later this month. Located at UPFI Media Center Building, Ylanan Avenue, UP Diliman, Quezon City.

Cinema Silencio

A post shared by Silencio (@cinema.silencio) on Jul 24, 2018 at 3:19am PDT

Cinema Silencio is a new weekly event at XX XX. Every Wednesday night they will be screening two foreign films with a musical intermission in between. The club is transformed into a cozy cinema with comfortable couches, chairs, and tables. They also serve a special selection of food and drinks depending on the movie, and of course popcorn. They kicked off this month with Italian movies with next week focusing on two German features. Located at XX XX, 20b La Fuerza Plaza 1, 2241 Don Chino Roces Avenue, Makati City.

Cinema ’76 Film Society

The people behind Cinema ’76 are also those responsible for TBA Studios. They are an independent film company that have produced movie like Bliss and Birdshot. At Cinema ’76 they show both local and international films. You can follow them on Instagram to see their movie schedules. Located at 3/F, LRT Anonas City Center, Aurora Boulevard, Quezon City.

Cinematheque Center Manila

A post shared by FDCP Cinematheque (@cinemathequemnl) on Jul 18, 2018 at 11:02pm PDT

Cinematheque Center Manila “is an alternative and accessible venue for exhibiting Filipino and world cinema.” Aside from their regular film viewings, this month they will be hosting the second Pista ng Pelikulang Pilipino. In line with Buwan ng Wika, all theaters nationwide will exclusively be screening Filipino films from Aug. 15 to 21. Located at 855 Kalaw Avenue, Ermita, Manila City.
