The lowdown on the cool green shade you’re seeing everywhere

By Jacqueline Ariason July 27, 2019

Color trends have evolved so much in the last couple of years. It all started with the rise of millennial pink and lilac, which then became gen Z yellow. In between those, there was “camelflage,” slime green, and the 2019 Pantone shade Living Coral.

Now that we’re more than halfway through 2019, it seems like pistachio green is the must-have color of the season. The Fashion Spot called it a “transitional shade” from fall to spring season because, as you may know, the former is known for warmer hues. While pistachio green is a cool pastel green-yellow shade (some variations are darker) which gives a fresh vibe to any look. It’s not overimposing like neon/slime green.

Harper’s Bazaar also credited the rise of this trend to SS19 collections from the likes of Jacquemus and Tibi. If you think pistachio green will eventually die down once the -ber months come around, WhoWhatWear predicted it would still be big in jewelry form in the fall.

Are you into this shade of green? Give it a chance and shop the pieces we picked out below.

Mango Textured Top

Our climate’s been really unpredictable lately—sometimes it’s rainy, sometimes sunny. In case of hot and humid days, you can wear this sleeveless ribbed top from Mango. You can wear this with jeans, shorts, or a skirt. You can also accessorize this by layering some necklaces over it. Available at Glorietta 2.

Straightforward High Waist Lux Linen Shorts

Here’s a pistachio green pair of shorts to go with your sleeveless top. This piece from Straightforward is high-waisted and made with cool linen fabric, perfect for the city and the beach. Available at SM Mall of Asia.

Miss Selfridge Green Jacquard Spot Print High Neck Midi Dress

This polka-dotted dress has a high neckline and low back. It’s a good choice for Sunday brunch or wine night with your loved ones. Just strap on some comfortable heels and put your hair in an updo, and you’re good to go. Available at Greenbelt 5.

Promod Linen Waistcoat

If you need a pop of color for your work outfit, pair this Miss Selfridge sleeveless waistcoat with your blouse and slacks. Make sure you enter the conference room with confidence to go with your pastel look. Available at TriNoma Mall.

Primadonna Strappy High Heels

Instead of the usual black or nude heels, go for this pistachio green pair from Primadonna. It has an ankle strap with a buckle closure and a block heel. These are the sandals for those who aren’t used to walking in heels. Available on Zalora PH.

Charles & Keith Ribbon Push-Lock Bag

This Charles & Keith bag is like a grown-up version of our lunchboxes. It’s a small rectangle shape with a gold push-lock closure and a top handle, plus a detachable chain strap. What makes the design unique is the oversized black ribbon detail in front. Available at Bonifacio High Street.

Koket Green Agate Bangle

As mentioned earlier, pistachio green can also be seen on jewelry. The color doesn’t have to be in-your-face, sometimes it’s subtle too. This Koket bangle, for example, has a majority brass setting with two elongated green agate stones placed in the middle for that standout element. You can wear this on your arm alone or you can stack other bracelets if you’re feeling #extra. Available on Ava.

Owndays OTSG3004 Sunglasses in Yellow Demi

For the full pistachio green fantasy, you have to cop shades in this color as well. The Yellow Demi colorway has yellow-orange gradient frames and green lenses. It’s an unexpected color combo, but it works! Available at Ayala Malls Circuit.
