The news of Selena Gomez and Justin Bieber hanging out got people freaking out over #JELENA again. While many also quoted Dua Lipa’s “New Rules,” telling Selena that she broke rule #3 on exes: “Don’t be his friend.”
The argument on whether or not you should befriend your ex still depends on the people involved. Plus, Justin and Selena aren’t the only celebrities who are in good terms with their former flame. Some have even gotten back together.
If you’re someone who supports the idea that exes can be friends, then this list is for you. This might also convince the skeptics out there. (Emphasis on “might.”)
Kim Chiu & Gerald Anderson
The two met when they were contestants on the first season of Pinoy Big Brother: Teen Edition. They dated from 2006 to 2010, and starred in films like Paano Na Kaya and First Day High. They proved that they were still in good terms when they openly talked about their past relationship on Gandang Gabi Vice earlier this year. They even joked about the expensive gifts they gave to each other.
Miranda Kerr & Orlando Bloom
Miranda and Orlando divorced back in 2013, which was one of the hardest decisions they made as a couple and as parents. After the split, the two continues to show that they’re still friends. Orlando once interrupted Miranda’s red carpet interview during a Vanity Fair party in 2014 just to compliment her. He also posted birthday and mother’s day messages for Miranda this year.
Emma Stone & Andrew Garfield
The former Amazing Spider-Man co-stars broke up in 2015 but are reportedly still close. A source told People that the two “never stopped caring for each other” and believes that they will only date again “when the timing’s right.” To tug at your heartstrings even more, Andrew told The Hollywood Reporter in 2016 that he’d rather be with Emma on a deserted island.
Jennylyn Mercado & Dennis Trillo
Jennylyn and Dennis broke up for a bit, but were spotted multiple times together. One instance was a trip to Amsterdam in which both celebrities denied their relationship despite the obvious photos. But now, they’re back together and sometimes post their travel photos on Instagram.
Dawn Zulueta & Richard Gomez
Back in the ’90s, Richard and Dawn were one of the most-talked-about couples. They dated briefly and, according to Dawn, they could’ve ended up together “if he had stayed faithful.” But there’s no bad blood between the two as they starred in the series Walang Hanggan and film The Love Affair, where they portrayed husband and wife in both.
Demi Lovato & Joe Jonas
The two dated for a month after starring in Camp Rock. According to Demi, their first kiss as a couple happened in front of the camera while shooting Camp Rock 2. After their breakup, Joe said that he’ll “continue to be her friend and be there for her.” Fast forward to today, Demi even congratulated Joe on his engagement to Sophie Turner.
Michelle van Eimeren & Ogie Alcasid
Ogie and Michelle married in 1996 and had two kids together, Leila Alcasid and Sarah Alcasid. They split up in 2007 but continued keeping in touch after Ogie married Regine Velasquez. All of them even went to Paris together earlier this year.
