The mere mention of “Michelin-starred restaurant” is enough to pique anyone’s interest. After all, when a restaurant is given this distinction, it’s recognized to have high-quality cooking. So it’s no surprise that a lot of these places have long lines and even tight reservation lists.

That said, these Michelin-starred restaurants from other countries have made their way to the Philippines and it’s intriguing many. These range from family friendly to swanky date night spots. So here’s what you need to know if you want to try their wares.

Kam’s Roast

A post shared by Kam’s Roast Philippines (@kamsroastphilippines) on Apr 23, 2018 at 11:22pm PDT

This Hong Kong favorite is opening next week at SM Megamall. It’s best known for its roast goose, but because the Philippines isn’t allowed to import goose from China, Kam’s Roast will serve roast duck. But it’s still equally good and has an affordable price of P2,800 for a whole duck to share with your friends and family. Kam’s Roast also has crispy roasted suckling pig, roasted chicken with garlic sauce, and also ala carte rice dishes. Opening at 3/F SM Mega Fashion Hall on May 15.

Din Tai Fung

The number one go-to for xiao long bao, Din Tai Fung has been named one of New York Times‘ Top 10 Best Restaurants. Aside from their dumplings, which come in different flavors, they also serve other Taiwanese dishes like noodles and stir-fried bird’s nest. Located at G/F Power Plant Mall, Hidalgo Drive, Rockwell, Makati City.

Tim Ho Wan

Another franchise from Hong Kong, Tim Ho Wan is often greeted with long lines—mostly groups of friends and family members. If you ask anyone about the specialteis here, they’ll likely tell you to try their baked buns with barbecued pork. The Michelin Guide also has high praise for their 25 dimsum flavors. Located at G/F Glorietta 3, West Drive, Ayala Center, Makati City.

Tsuta Ramen

Tsuta is the first Michelin-starred ramen. Aside from the traditional shoyu or miso soup base, the restaurant also has truffle oil ramen. Here in the Philippines, they created three ramen bowls inspired by Filipino dishes like sinigang, kare-kare, and sisig. Located at C3, Bonifacio High Street, 7th Avenue, Bonifacio Global City, Taguig City.

Chef Davide Oldani is a Michelin-starred chef who owns the world-renowned restaurant D’O in Milan. In 2016, he brought FOO’D to Manila as part of his Cucina Pop venture. The restaurant is intimate and seats only 60 people, and it promises to serve Michelin-grade food like the Cipolla Caramellata (caramelized onion), Iberico Pork Ribs, and chef Oldani’s rendition of a lemon curd. It’s a dining experience that you can try on your next date night. G/F Shangri-la at The Fort, 30th Street corner 5th Avenue, Bonifacio Global City, Taguig City.
