Washing your body isn’t enough if you’re not eliminating the top layer of dead skin cells. After lathering on soap, you’ll still be left with flakey skin that no lotion can cure. To get the softest skin you’ve ever had, exfoliate one to three times a week. No, this isn’t excessive because we shed skin cells every day. However, exfoliating isn’t just about scrubbing your skin down, there is a certain process you can follow to get the best results aka, baby soft skin. If this is your goal in life, here’s a breakdown of what you need and what to do.
The Body Shop Exfoliating Bath Gloves
For the first step of body exfoliating, start off dry. Hop in the shower because this could get messy. Using an exfoliating mitt, rub your skin in circular motions. This will get rid of any dead skin cells chilling on your body. Once you feel like you got rid of that first layer, it’s time to rinse. Available at Greenbelt 3.
Dirty Works Glow Girl! Buttery Salt Scrub
Once you’re done with step one, rinse your body with lukewarm water. The next step is to really get in there with an exfoliating scrub. There are so many to choose from. The first option is one that is wet. This is the one that I use and it is a mix of shea butter, sea salt, and peach stone granules. The tiny grains will buff out and polish your skin, while the shea butter adds moisture back. A little goes a long way so start with a small amount and then keep adding as you work on other parts of your body. Available at Freyja.
Sweet Solutions Cinnamon Sugar Skin Scrub
Another option is a dry scrub. This one is all-natural and promises to smoothen the skin while giving it a spiced scent. The ingredients like cinnamon and essential oils also have natural healing benefits that will rejuvenate the skin. Available on Beauty MNL.
Acca Kappa Beachwood Bath Brush
Don’t forget the hard to reach places like your back. To make the process easier, use a body brush. This has natural bristles and a long handle so you won’t miss a spot. When using this, don’t scrub too hard because you don’t want to irritate your skin. The handle is also detachable so it doubles as a dry brush too. Available at Rustan’s The Beauty Source.
Love Beauty and Planet Argan Oil & Lavender Body Lotion
After rinsing your body a second time and getting it squeaky clean, don’t forget this last step. Since you got rid of layers of old skin, it is bound to get very dry. To bring life back into it, moisturize with body cream or lotion. A mix of argan oil and lavender will soothe your skin, which is exactly what you’ll need after exfoliating. Available at Watsons branches.
