Why Rihanna and Anne Curtis Won 2017

By Bea Llagason December 29, 2017

There were so many amazing things that happened in 2017. Celebrities getting engaged and married left and right made me rethink my current life choices and wonder when I’m tying the knot myself. But quarter-life crisis aside, we took a good look at some of the A-listers who had the best 2017 (aside from us, of course).

Rihanna

This stunna doesn’t need any introduction. Resident bad gal Rihanna opened 2017 with a jaw-dropping Gucci ensemble at Coachella. I mean, she wasn’t even in the lineup but the way she dazzled under the California sun was enough to say that she is the life of the party.

Fast forward a few months, the “Diamonds” singer released Fenty Beauty, which is perhaps the best makeup line of the century. (Sorry, Kat Von D.) That and her ongoing collaboration with sportswear brand Puma. Not to mention that she accepted the Humanitarian of the Year award at Harvard. Slay all the way to 2018, girl.

Anne Curtis

I’m not into local celebrities that much but Anne Curtis’ wedding got me on my toes ever since Erwan Heussaff popped the question last year. I can tell that 2017 has been one of the best years for her because aside from saying “I do” to her long-time beau, she also launched her own cosmetics line, blk Cosmetics. Looks like Anne’s taking cues from RiRi.

Selena Gomez

Selena both had a rough and rewarding year. She underwent surgery last summer because of her struggle with lupus and arthritis. After a successful recovery, Selena started to get better, and better things followed suit. Not that having the most Instagram likes is a big deal, but the fact that she stayed strong despite all things she went through made her Billboard Woman of the Year title a well-deserved feat.

Moira Dela Torre

I don’t think it’s possible to find another artist who can win at Chubby Bunny and still sing perfect notes. Singer-songwriter Moira Dela Torre has made 2017 her best year yet, with hit songs/covers like “Malaya” and “Torete” winning the Internet. If you haven’t read our feature on the songstress yet, you can read it here.

Kim Kardashian

Although it seems like all of the Kardashian sisters are having the best 2017, we gotta give the slot to Kim K. Some of her greatest accomplishments this year include KKW Beauty and her third child, which was conceived via surrogate, on the way. We’re all just so happy for KimYe this year. Bible!

Beyoncé

Sir Carter and Rumi 1 month today. ??❤️??????????

Queen Bey has been a busy momma this year, but that didn’t keep her from serving us fierce looks. In case you’re living under a rock, Beyoncé gave birth to twins this year. If this isn’t the best year for the Carter family, I don’t know what is.
